"I'm not much on Rear Window ethics" print for upcoming Gallery1988 Suspense&Gallows show

This is my piece for the upcoming Gallery 1988 show "Suspense&Gallows:a tribute to Hitchcock" opening friday April. 13th in Santa Monica, Ca (Gallery1988 Venice location).
I was foruntate to be able to base my piece on the Alfred Hitchcock classic 'Rear Window'.
Always loved watching this one growing up!
The prints namesake, a quote from Grace Kelly in the film, offered quite a prophetic parallel to our current voyeuristic culture.
As you can see the colors came out quite beautiful and more vibrant than anticipated(good thing:) Printed by the lovely folks at The Half and Half.
I'll have copies of this available in my store toward the end of April.

Bad Dads 2: Needle in the Hay..

This is a print for the upcoming Spokeart "Bad Dads 2" show opening Oct. 30 in San Francisco.
Its a 18x24", 4-color silk screen, edition of 40.
The print is based on the Wes Anderson classic "The Royal Tenenbaums" and is entitled "Needle in the Hay.."
The print explores Richie's struggle as he comes to terms with being true to his feelings, no matter the consequence. The piece explores the parallell between Richie confronting his feelings in personal relations and the liberation of Mordecai.
Later in the film we see an older Mordecai return to Richie. Both Mordecai and Richie, wiser and truer.
As you can see one of the layers is printed in metallic gold. These will be made available in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

Spokeart's Bad Dads 2

A few months ago I was asked to participate in the upcoming sequel to Spokeart's hit Bad Dads
show from Fall 2010.
I chose to do a print which focused on a personal favorite Wes Anderson movie The Royal
Tenenbaum's.
I wanted to explore and illustrate the results of these characters in the pursuit of their desires.
How in some cases the truth set them free. Which is why I decided to include Mordecai. Richie
setting Mordecai free is as much a representation of his independence as Richie slitting his wrists
or confronting Margoux, Royal and Eli with his true feelings.
Anyway...more to come:)

Sketches! Upcoming!

Just uploaded a lot more sketch/concept art to my Flickr account.
Check them out. You might be surprised!
